Which faults can't wait until morning?
Some faults are uncomfortable, and some are actively costing you money or risking the house. The ones worth a 2am call:
- Water you can't stop A burst pipe or a burst braided kitchen hose keeps flowing until something is turned off.
- Sewage inside the house A toilet or floor gully bringing up waste is a health problem, not an inconvenience.
- A gas smell Get outside, don't flick switches, and treat it as urgent; the gas leak page runs through the safety steps.
- A hot water unit leaking or tripping power Cold showers alone can wait for morning; a failing tank can't.

While the Van Is On Its Way
A burst pipe keeps pouring until the water is off, and most of the damage is stoppable before anyone arrives. Work through these in order:
- 1
Turn off the mains tap at the water meter out the front
Or the isolating tap if one is fitted on the incoming line.
- 2
For a burst flexi hose
The small isolation tap on the pipe to that fixture, under the sink or behind the toilet, may be enough on its own.
- 3
Keep clear of power
If water is tracking toward power points or the switchboard, keep everyone back and tell the plumber when you ring.
- 4
For a gas smell
Open windows on the way out, get everyone outside, and leave the switches alone. Ring from the footpath.
What Goes Wrong After Dark Here
Renovation hoses let go first
Storms surcharge the low side
The old galvanised is past its use-by
How is an after-hours job priced?
We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.
What sits behind the figure:
- The hour Evenings, weekends and public holidays are quoted at a higher rate, and you hear it up front.
- The pipe Rusted galvanised gets cut back to sound metal, clay gets the camera first, and PVC or copper usually takes a straight joint repair.
- Access Digging to a line under a concrete verandah or a raised floor adds labour that an open cabinet doesn't.
- The fix you choose Making the house safe tonight costs less than renewing the whole line, and a camera run shows which one you actually need.
Booking an emergency call, end to end
- 01
Ring or send the form
Call (02) 4063 1093 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.
- 02
A fixed price first
A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.
- 03
Contain first, then repair
The first move is shutting down the water or the gas so the loss stops, then the repair is made safe before any permanent fix is priced.
- 04
Covered for a year
Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.
What Customers Say
An emergency page can promise anything, so here is one from a real job:
I commend them for their very fast and efficient service when we had a burst pipe.
Every emergency has its own page
The middle-of-the-night faults each have a full page of their own, with the causes and the fixes in detail:
Gas leak detection
The safety steps, the detector work and the repair.
Blocked sewer
When sewage rises through a floor drain instead of going down.
Stormwater drains
When the yard floods with every storm.
Hot water
The repair-or-replace call and every system type.
Water leak detection
The quiet drip that becomes an emergency when it finds a floor.
When We're Not the Right Call
A few 2am problems belong to another crew entirely, and the honest move at that hour is naming whose job it is before anyone books anything.
- Gas escaping at the meter or out toward the street is for the gas distributor's emergency crew, so ring them first, then us for anything past the meter.
- A break in the street main out the front is Hunter Water's repair. Ring us anyway and you will get the right number for it.
- A hot water unit that keeps blowing a fuse needs an electrician first, not a plumber.
Straight answers for the small hours
Will you come to a house near Blackbutt Reserve at 2am?
Yes. The run covers the whole suburb, from the streets backing the reserve through to Garden Suburb and Adamstown, on the same terms at 2am as at midday. Available 24/7 means a real person arranges a licensed plumber while you are still on the line.
A braided hose burst under my kitchen sink. Where do I shut off the water?
Start with the small isolation tap where the braided hose connects, or the tap under the sink. If there is no isolating tap, close the stopcock at the meter out the front, then open a garden tap outside to drain the pressure. A bucket under the joint catches what is left.
Is no hot water on a Sunday night in a 1950s weatherboard an emergency?
Usually it can wait for a morning booking, unless the unit is leaking water or tripping power. A cold night is miserable, not dangerous. If the tank has failed, a replacement can be quoted at the same visit, and a temporary hot water tank keeps showers running while the new one arrives.
In a storm my gully overflows. Is my drain blocked, or is it the creek?
Both happen here. The suburb drains toward Styx Creek, and when the creek runs high it can surcharge connections that are perfectly clear. If the gully also spills in ordinary rain, the line is probably blocked, and a camera run after the storm settles the question.
